about me
i'm bobby. this is my space online. in day to day life, i am a software developer. i mostly work in ruby. it's fun.
about this place
ok, here's my manifesto: the web could use a little de-evolution. before commercialism had fully entrenched itself in the online space, before "web 2.0," before content aggregation, algorithmic feeds, echo chambers, and so-on, things were simpler. communities were more disparate, weirder, and not muddied by so many people jockeying to build their brand. everything feels like a skinner box now.
this site is mostly just a "fuck you" to all of that. and it's a place for me to collect some of my thoughts and technical notes.
it's also designed to be very simple and lightweight. it uses no cookies, and serves no javascript. it makes use of semantic html elements with the aim of increasing accessibility. it should be reasonably responsive. but most importantly, it is mine. it's my own shitty design, my own content, and it runs on my own box. i believe that self-ownership of things is important.
around the web
i am on mastodon and i also make some of my personal projects available on codeberg under free software licenses.
